Rear Side Federal Repeater Lights
« on: Monday,July 04, 2022, 09:46:00 AM »
I am currently fitting all the lights to 4376R, and I have just noticed that the rear side red repeater lights have the rectangular Federal cut outs, just like the amber front ones.

This is the 7th Federal car I am working on, and all the other 6 have the rear red lights fitted direct into the wings, without the plastic rectangular inset holder, which is normally only fitted to the amber front ones.

Does any other Federal Europa in the USA have these rectangular inset holders on the two rear side repeater lights, or is this a one off, either done by Lotus at Hethel, or by a PO?

Mine has the lights you're used to - amber in the black plastic insert in front and red attached to the outside of the body (no plastic insert).

agreed.  My back lights (yeah, have had more than one car and left with a box full of the chrome inserts...) were always mounted ON the rear wing.  Looks like someone used the plastic insert to sink it into the wing.  Unless you want to reglass it...I'd leave it (correct or not...) and chalk up to owner-induced patina...and fix it if/when you repaint the car.

I don't think so. If you compare that to the front, you will see the difference.

If you look inside, the plastic inserts are held in place against the fibreglass by pop=riveted steel thin bars in a wide U shape.

You're right , mine are not not riveted in, they are part of the light.  Saw the black plastic on mine (which did not seem to be on TurboForce's pic) so assumed I had the black holder.

It's there on mine...it's deteriorated and blends in with the patina....
