365 gearbox woes finally resolved

Coming towards the end of my rebuild at the end of 2021 I had some gearbox problems which turned out to be pretty serious.

After seeking advice here and stripping the box down there appeared to be internal parts missing & broken. Having looked
into getting spares (almost impossible) I decided to send it off to Richard at Banks Europa. It's just come back and it looks fantastic.
He has fully rebuilt and refurbished it, replacing every nut, bolt & seal, plus several missing pieces from his stock of old parts. Looking
forward to getting it in the car and finally driving the thing.

Before it goes back together I wanted to change the clutch shaft seal and maybe the thrust bearing located in the bellhousing. The manual is
a bit light on detail. Is there any particular knack to removing/replacing the clutch fork which is held by the 2 pins? (see last photo)

Just ease the spring out either side and it comes straight off.

AS Mr 4129R says, not need to remove the pins as it's the spring holding the release bearing in place.

The input shaft seal is replaced from the other side.

I wanted to take the whole thing off as I plan to get the casing vapour blasted, the bellhousing now
looks a bit shabby compared to the gearbox.

The pins are an interference fit and are EXTREMELY TIGHT.  Without the special tool, which no one has, the only way to get them off is to drill two holes in the bell housing and drive them out from the back side.  You can vapour-blast without removing the clutch fork.

Thanks, I had though of drilling the bellhousing.

However, after removing the thrust bearing I had a go with a slightly modified punch. I managed to drive them up from inside the bellhousing and was them able to use an old pair of needle nose pliers to grip the slot in the pins and knock them the rest of the way out. They were tight!

Getting them back in maybe another story.

  I posted the exact location of the holes so that you can remove the pins for an S2 . Please post the location of the pins .
   I made up the tool to remove them however drilling out and removing was easier. .
