More Scammers
« on: Tuesday,January 16, 2024, 12:03:19 PM »
Well, I fell victim to a scammer once again.  It happened through the WTB page but I have no one to blame but myself.  It's a damn shame that on a site like this wherein 99.9% of the followers are upstanding, trustworthy fellow enthusiasts that we can be abused so.  The fact of the matter is that this forum is part of the world wide web and every time one of us logs onto the web, we drop our drawers to all of the lonely basement dwellers, Nigerian crooks and Indian thieves.  At any rate,  here are the guilty parties;

Markz_786             a fellow member of the forum
Edward Colton            whomever that jerk might be
canniedavispzz@gmail.com          the paypal account where they wanted the purchase to be transacted
6500 st johns Drive #1072 Benbrook texas 76312        the address where I foolishly sent the cash

REALLY sorry to hear about this! That kind of crap really puts a crimp in your day. Hopefully you'll find another source for what you were looking for that will be trustworthy and be an even better price!

Sorry to hear. So many scams happen on WTB posts. I won't even buy on sell post unless the person has been on the forum for 1 year plus and posts often.

John,  I thought I found the elusive NOS S1 glovebox pull handle.  Mine is badly pitted and if I try to have it re-chromed it will surely be ruined;  rounded edges etc.

The worst part of being scammed is I blame myself more that the dirty rodent thief because I fell for it.

Sigh, that I don't have a spare of, sorry.  Mine is also completely different and I think it is original.  Lotus grabbing whatever is on the shelf most likely.  Mine is a later S1 (0601).

How about getting yours scanned and CNC a new one?  Personally, I think yours is fine as is.  Believe me, these were crude cars, even for their day.  Have you ever read the Car and Driver review of an S1a?  It's hilarious.  Here it is:

We had  a door handle on another  project that looked worse than yours. The local chrome plating shop fixed it up and chrome plated it for C$85.

Your handle looks to made of Mazak, this can be chromed with a few coats of copper before the chrome to fill the pin -holes which will be there when stripped. A good chrome shop could fix it.

Triton, you are most likely correct.  My Les Leston Sebring/Monza mirrors are Mazak and they came out perfectly.

JB's web site is a glorious reference.  Thank you.

There are so many scammers, I'm angered whenever I hear that they've succeeded.
Best of luck with finding the handle.
