Hi

Has anyone out there decided to go without sun visors?

and - had anyone found any good replacements for the old ones?

Many thanks,

I don't use visors. I was going to try to recondition mine till I realized that because I'm so tall (I have a "Gurney bump"), I pretty much look out of the top four inches of the windshield and if I were to use a visor, it would pretty much obscure all my vision.

There's not much to them. If you have the original ones, you can cut the vinyl and dump out the now granulated foam, cut a foam insulation sheet into the correct shape and recover it. If you don't have them any more, they are just a wire frame welded on to a piece of sheet metal. The wire frame provides the shape and the sheet metal wraps around the mount that acts as a pivot. If you would like a picture and some dimensions, let me know.

I restored my frames using the method described in the attached link.  They turned out quite well.  The only issue is there is a sewn seam at the rear where the originals were heat sealed.

Possibly another candidate for self adhesive black vinyl to make them look new.
