Title: TCS front stub axles
Post by: web365ster on Friday,March 31, 2023, 09:54:51 AM
Looking for recommendations on changing the front stub axles. Suspect I have originals, both seem in good condition. Should I magna flux or just buy new?  Any recommendations on replacements, heavy duty ones, etc... thank

Unless you're racing your TCS your stub axles are probably OK. Only front suspension failure I ever had in 50 years was a sheared off upright at the trunnion. Happened racing SCCA with 8" wide racing slicks.

+1  stub axles are generally not a weak point.

When I redid my front end, I magnafluxed the uprights and put in alloy spindles,(Ihttp://www.leechapmanracing.com/lotus_elan.html) I also installed bearing spacers to stabilize the front wheels to improve high speed steering stability.  It seems to have been successful since I regularly take it to 90 or so on the expressway.  I sure would not feel comfortable do that before, since the car was very twitchy.
I have not raced the car.
