Mac software for drawing up wiring diagrams?
« on: Friday,February 13, 2015, 06:16:46 AM »
Any recommendations for wiring diagram software/resources for drawing up vehicle wiring diagrams?  I’m using a Mac.  Doesn’t need to be free.  Looking for something simple so I can concentrate on the diagram, not the software.  Automotive object library would be nice as well.

TIA,

John

Sorry, I can't help with the Mac solution but it's an intriguing idea.

I used photoshop to cobble together an updated diagram for my car after adding some relays but the idea of drawing a new one from scratch does have some appeal, it would certainly be higher quality than a scan and perhaps neater.  Your post got me wondering what do people normally use for such jobs, do we have any experts on here ?

There are various CAD/drawing programs which have object libraries to suit everything from flow charts to floor plans.  There are even circuit simulators where the circuit you draw can be tested virtually -- geared toward electronic circuit board design.

I believe the program I used to draw up my fan wiring diagram is Mac compatible. It's more than sufficient for auto wiring circuits..

A word of warning on using Express SCH, it will seem to be clumsy and a pain to use for the first few attempts but with practice you can make a drawing relatively quickly.

Although I haven't tried it, it may be possible to copy and paste your diagram to MS Word or notepad and then open with MS Paint to color your wires?

Appears that you can color your wires using MS Paint.
