Europa race car for sale on BaT+
« on: Thursday,January 23, 2020, 11:21:21 AM »
It's here: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1974-lotus-europa-6/

A lot of good stuff in this build, including a BDA!,  but I have to say they should have done something nicer than those rear flares.

I'm certainly not a carb expert but the old Formula Atlantic cars used 48 DCOEs but this car uses 45 DCOEs (as does mine). I suppose the cam is a bit milder. So far no dyno results are posted.

Yeah, I thought that was a bit strange too. Usually you want the shift lever near the steering wheel but I figured the driver had some strange technique or seating position.

The seller states it was dynoed at 226 at 9300 rpms.  I don't mine the rear flares.  To me it goes with the whole Europa philosophy of form follows function.  Hey BDA: makes me appreciate your car even more.

You're not alone, 'madness. Several people posted that they liked them. I followed some links from the original BaT auction and I liked the flares that used to be on the rear much better.

226 hp is getting pretty close to what the old Formula Atlantic motors were getting which makes the 45 DCOEs more perplexing but maybe that's why it doesn't do quite as well as the old Atlantic motors did. Of course there are many variables and I have only a slight grasp of the subject so...

I expect it will go much much more. True Europa race car that has been recently restored. It will stand out at vintage races.

The last bid doubled the current bid, and with twelve days to go! I think Certified's right, it will likely go much higher.

No love. I am surprised. Really needs to go on a race car for sale site.
