Title: JPS Purchase
Post by: dakazman on Monday,January 16, 2023, 04:21:11 PM
I couldn’t pass up this early S2 or 47 .  No door handles and a twin cam.

Watching some of the masters build models from Japan I had some trimming to do. I filed off some plastic high points, all the location markers for decals and sanded off all the decals that were applied.
I am in no way experienced in model building but I did get the doors to fit and some cracks fixed . The alignment done but will have to pull the wheels off the rear to install the spacers on the axle shaft that were left off.
All in all , coming out nicely.
Any tips welcome!😃🙏

Any rust on the chassis? >:D

I have two Europa models, one built, the other for after the big model gets finished…

Kendo , no rust on the frame, just me. I only built one other since I was 13 , 54 years ago so hence the rust. The last Europa is back in the box , it was a real basket case. This one is now ready for paint after filling some seams and filing down some mold lines.

Nice project Dakazman. Good to see someone cutting plastic. I am a model car enthusiast too, and coincidentally have a JPS on the bench.

Bainford, That looks very nice and the trim lines are over the top.
It seems you really cleaned up the lines in the molds .
I’m having a problem getting the headlight area cleaned up. Another builder mentioned I should flare the fender’s to match my car. That is way beyond my model building skill. The model was sold prebuilt but I can see some flaws and trying to figure out how to center the rear axle to stop the slop of the side to side movement. It seems the stop was put on the wrong side so I’ll have to pull the wheels off and add the spacers.
After adding some putty and sanding the body looks like I’m ready for paint on the body and doors.
I’ll post a picture of the other Europa I started…it still need’s serious work in straightening body parts.
