I can't help but think of those who served or died fighting against principles this country currently embraces!

I know my Dad and his brothers (WWII) are "turning over in their graves." ...At least, I hope they're not voting.

I remembered to put up the Stars and Stripes on the telegraph pole opposite my barn where B17 Eager Eagle crashed in my back garden on 30th August 1943 killing all the crew except the waist gunners who baled out.

I'm not a vet or a descendant of a vet but I really appreciate your doing that, Alex!

In Oz we call it Remembrance Day – same thing, I think.

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front after the bloodshed of World War I.

Pic of my father (middle) in the Middle East, WWII.

Yep, it's the same (11th month, day, hour, minute, etc.). Great picture, Gavin! I'm sure you're proud of your father!

Yeah, I like to think he did some good in what must have been a hell of a time.
He was posted to Germany after the war for the rebuilding effort and I was christened there.

Not a veteran myself but my Land Rover 101 FC (Former Stinger missile carrier) is.
Drove it around today and got lots of thumbs up.
