I don't usually bad-mouth prices in listings, however...this one should be.

Professional "Flipper" who needs to proof-read his ads. "BIG VALUE ENGINE"
Ex-US car, so to make a profit they have to cover shipping and VAT expenses in addition to purchase price.
Unless they find someone with more money than sense they may be lucky to break even.

Depending on the state of the chassis, it is worth about £4,000 - £5,000 in the UK.
I have bought some "restoration opportunities" in my time, but none as bad as that.
Everything you look at needs replacing. I expect both fuel tanks are badly holed too.
I can see £24k in painting, upholstering and parts alone, without factoring in the time spent doing it.

I can vouch for Vincent Haydon as he bought one or two Lotus cars from me (TaylorMadeClassicCars), but i think he restored them or had customers already lined up....either way, he paid in full and communicated well. i wish him luck.

I've bought cars to break up in better shape.

I think this is what happens when a make/model suddenly begins to appreciate in spectacular fashion.
Personally not happy to see it as I do not want to have to refrain from driving mine due to it becoming too valuable for spirited use.
I can plod along in my truck.

Highway robbery?
I can only assume that prices are a lot less in the US than the UK? (that would then make sense for a UK dealer to buy and then ship a car from the US to the UK)
You'll struggle to find a Special in the UK for much less than the asking price: a 'good' car is £25,000+ and the best are up to £40,000+ (the tired engine alone is worth a few thousand pounds)
I'm not suggesting that £9995 is a bargain but I'm also not suggesting that somebody (a dealer in this instance) in another country should wear a tricorn hat and a mask :pirate:
Regards,
Mark

This is the same as alot of dealers who price their stuff way above market value. I personally do not like it as it distorts the market for genuine enthusiasts. As a result others will over price their cars and they will sit unsold for years even.

Appears to have been sold. I don't remember what the original asking price but somebody wanted it.
