Title: New home for 47
Post by: Lou Drozdowski on Thursday,October 07, 2021, 04:30:57 PM
Classic Team Lotus has added another steed to the stable...

I hope they leave the paint work (battle scars) as is, and just refresh what's needed.

Interesting. That's the 47 that has been for sale in Belgium for ages (more than 5 years at least). So it has found the best possibly home.

Turbo Force...Here's a similar story for you.

Ever heard of the Simeone Museum ? If not look it up.

In years past I met with Dr. Fred, who's private collection was a secret, only a chosen few knew of the stash of legendary racers and collector iron he had hidden away in a nondescript 5 story building in downtown Philly.

Well, one day it was decided that  Dr. Fred wanted the world to know.

Yes, he would show his treasures to the public and needed a few people to help move them. In total there were six of us, it took three days to fire up or push and load sixty eight masterpieces to the new public location.

I mention this because of this one car...The Shelby Daytona, holder of the land speed endurance record at Bonneville. The car had never been cleaned! Salt residue everywhere, like it had just finished the record breaking run. Dr Fred made sure it remained that way.

It is the first car ever to be classified a National Heritage artifact!...Now that's patina!

ps... a few shots of other trinkets, that memorable 72 hours!
