f you're serious about the asking price, WOW!!! I know Europas are going up in price but who in their serious mind would pay such a ridiculous price for an ashtray. If someone was completing a million dollar restoration on a Europa and all they were missing was the ashtray, maybe, but for a typical Europa?

Maybe this was only used on S1's, but $45 on ebay:

The TR4 ashtray is "similar" to the one used in an S1. The S1 ashtray has a smaller handle.

If the price in the ad was suppose to be tongue in cheek, it was too subtle for me to catch it or I'm too dense. I apologize if I offended you.

I'm only serious about the price for people who don't read all of the entire post and post ignorant comments.
Ouch.... :o

If my car had an ashtray I would remove it.
I am sure I will find something much more useful to occupy that space when I am ready.

Whilst I have seen large sums paid for the original style ashtrays for the twin cam, (someone once said they were rear ashtrays from a Wolsey, but which model I don't know), it is interesting to see what comes up on ebay when you enter "classic car ashtrays".
Sure they may not be original (but visually very close) and in many cases more practical than the original. :)

A year or so ago there was a spate of them being offered on Ebay UK. IIRC prices started off at very optimistic levels but by the end they were under £100, still expensive for something so trivial but if you really did want a new one for that concours restoration it's on a par with other things.
If you're searching Ebay then I think they were the rear seat ashtrays from Ford Consul, Zodiac, Zephyr, 1955-60
