Title: FS: S1 "Carnet De Service"
Post by: jbcollier on Thursday,November 12, 2020, 12:20:22 PM
I had my first miracle, duly reported to the Vatican, when I found a mint S1 owners handbook.  I've now had my second certified miracle as I also found a service record booklet in mint condition.  I have now had 30 professional copies made, photos here:

They are slightly fuzzy but that is exactly the same as the original.  I'm also hand perforating all the "tear-out" pages.  They are in French just like the handbooks I offered earlier (I have a few left of those as well if you missed out).

PS: Still looking for the elusive S1 service manual.  Maybe it never existed?

JB,
My S1 manual is in English on the cover and first page, but everything else inside is French. Either because it was an S1b or sold to the U.S.?

Yes, the owner’s handbook has the cover and first page in English, after that French.  The service book is completely in French.

Addendum:  the company info on the first page in both is in English.

David, just add $10 more for the owner’s handbook.  You’re  in the US, so that will be $30US for both.  Payment instructions as above.  Include your name with the payment.  I already have the envelope addressed and ready to go.

Hi, John,
 :newhere:
I must say that I am a bit lost : what would be the price in USD (or BTC...) for one owner's manual, shipped to France ? Thank you in advance.

Just the owners manual?  To Europe, $25US.  Owners manual and the service book?  $35US.

Considering your very affordable price, I'll go for both items. Can I pay with Paypal ?

Received, thank you.  Could you send me an email with your address set out as it would be on an envelope?  Not quite sure how to separate out what you sent via PayPal.  All the best to you and yours for the new year.

A fellow lister, Klaus, did some research and found that a member of the French Europa list had re-popped the Service de Carnet back in 2015-ish.  I seem to dimly recall I got my copy off French ebay so it may be that I'm re-popping a re-pop.  Just a heads up.

It's good to know...
Anyway, as far as I am concerned, the search for originals continues...!

I have two original owners manuals.  The first is moderately tough with the usual wear of having been lying around and tossed about .  It also has directions to a dealer scrawled inside the cover page.  Might be an English address.

The second I got from an old Lotus employee who picked it up from spares.  It's immaculate except for some small edge damage do to being moved about in storage.  He knew what he had, and I wanted it.  £500, ouch.  Fortunately the pound was low then.  This is the one I made the copies from.  The copies are identical in every respect except there is a slight moire pattern to the inside photo.

The Service de Carnet I bought off French ebay.  I don't speak French so I didn't ask questions.  Knowing that the French list made re-pops, it's too immaculate and must be one of those.  My re-re-pops are identical in every way.  The French lister sold the S1 Service de Carnet with a S2 owner's manual for 50 euro.  I sell them for $10US each, a slight loss as it's just a service to the list.

... The French lister sold the S1 Service de Carnet with a S2 owner's manual for 50 euro.
That's exactly the price for the initial re-production run as offered in the french Europa list. And it were bundled with an S2 service manual so it must be one of those. Maybe the Ebay seller did even mention that those are reproductions in the french ad.
For me it makes no difference and I'm very happy that you're taking the effort to have them reproduced (again). Highly appreciated :trophy:

Could be.  I bought it off ebay in June 2019.

I also have a couple of copies of the S1 parts book.  What must exist, though I can't even find a mention of it, is an S1 only service manual.
