First experiment with spray-bomb paint was a Fail.
Product does NOT match the finish represented by the cap.
I got all the wheels as clean and paint free as two applications of paint remover followed by a pressure washer can get them.
I still have to strip the experimented on wheel again.

Had to give up on the VMC, machine price was great, but moving cost are  :-X too high to bear.
Sacrificed a few cars to try to do this, just another thousand needed.  :headbanger:

Bummer!!! I hope you find another one!

One of the cars I sacrificed was my Morris Minor Pickup.
Yes it was a tinker toy, but VERY practical as a DD, unlike say, a Europa?
If I do not get scooped I have found a better one to replace it for almost the same price as I sold mine.

As to manufacture, in theory my manual mill can do a lot of what the VMC would have, just a lot slower.
So I intend to spruce up the manual mill, relearn my CAD skills, make a stamping fixture, get comfortable with the 3D, and even find time to finish the Lotus.
It is claimed that constantly learning new things staves off mental decline, I should be good for a long time. ;)

FS/WTB: Europa Parts and Stuff / WTB: TC/TCS Lower Links
« Last post by Bryan Boyle on Wednesday,May 22, 2024, 03:27:33 PM »
Looking for a straight set of lower links for the TC/TCS, preferably already stripped of the metalastic bushings.  Unbent, etc needless to say.  Going to refinish and set up with poly bushings when I replace rear shocks, and finding someone in a town of over 100K people and almost a car repair garage on every street that has a press is proving to be difficult.

Cash (well, what passes for it these days of electronic funds transfer) in hand.

Thanks in advance.

Hello and Hurrah

3040R now has a UK V5 and registration number and has been christened FWW 818M.

At least I can start to take a few things apart now that the DVLA are finished with the car. Has a quick go at starting to remove the petrol tanks, but rain stopped play.......

All the best

Berni

Garage / Re: Water in Fuel Tanks
« Last post by 4129R on Wednesday,May 22, 2024, 01:18:04 PM »
Can you poke a tube down to the bottom of the tank and draw some fluid from the bottom, which will be mainly water without having to drain the tanks?

A. Much easier to drain the tanks through the drain plug, just jack the back up, which gets all the water to run to the front where the drain plug is located. That way, all the water comes out.

That way you could try isolating both tanks. You could possibly leave them empty and hose down the car and see if any water gets into one of the tanks?

A. I will remove the filler tops and the rubber hose connector to the tanks, and introduce resin to fill the tops of the tanks completely, through the 3" hole in the bodywork.

Could the water be going round the seal round the filler neck in the bodywork, and getting inside the rubber hose from the filler neck to the tank from the top?

A. The hose connector is new and a tight fit, so no water can be getting into the tanks through the filler necks and caps. It must be getting in through the tank tops

It's great to hear from you again, Serge! And a new house with a new workshop is a reasonable excuse for your being incommunicado!

Hurry up and get everything straightened up so we can get more updates on your baby!! I can't wait to hear about your first drive!

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven’t yet responded to your kind messages.

I’m still alive, but haven’t had the time to work in the Europa. We just moved house after building our dream home and I’m in the process of setting up the new workshop. Once thats finished I can move the Europa in and start the restoration again.

I’ve been collecting parts in the meantime. Engine will be a 2 liter wedge engine on throttlebodies and injection. (82.5min bore and 93mm stroke). Should give it enough power to have some fun!

Best regards,

Serge
