We Lotus owners on the East Coast of the US have been blessed (again)! LOG 37 is going to be at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL next May 19th! The museum there is fabulous! It's mainly for motorcycles but they have the world's largest collection of Lotus cars. They also have a Britten Motorcycle which, even though I'm not much into motorcycles, this one is an amazing creature with an amazing story. The last time I was at Barber, it was being refurbished so I'm excited about seeing it.
Here's the promotional video: https://youtu.be/zGOPFyhq1MM
It's time for us Lotus owners to get ready for the gathering!!

Thanks for the heads up. Just earlier this week as I was flipping through some Lotus ReMarques I thought I would like to combine another LOG trip with a visit to the Barber Museum. Unfortunately the Lotus won't be ready for that kind of road trip by next May, but someday...
-
It isn't going to be for another 9 or 10 months! You can do a lot in that time. Sure, you might have to quit your job and ignore your family, but consider the proper priorities! ;D
I hope you will be able to make it anyway. It would be cool to have a lotuseuropa.org enclave!
-
I know I'll be there! Such a short trip for us next year!! :D :D :D Getting to drive on Talladega will be awesome!
-
It will be great to see you again, Kid! This time with your car!

It will be great to see you again, Kid! This time with your car!
Maybe not just with my Europa. I'll try and bring my M100 (My mom will drive it) and I know my dad will bring the Elise. The M100 needs some work unfortunately. Although, I have every part for the car to have it fixed but without a lift its hard to do anything on that car. Also the bumpers are off the car and its ready to be painted but we would rather do the engine work first. We'll see if we can get it down to Alabama but I know my Europa and my dads Elise will be there this year.
It will be great to see you again as well, and looking forward to meeting others at LOG37.
-
Good luck with the M100! It would be great to get them all there!
-
I will be there, without a Lotus and only at the Friday night reception and Saturday concours event. My wife and I had already accepted a wedding invitation for the same weekend in Birmingham. Go figure!
Will be great to finally meet some of you on this forum!
-
Great!! I look forward to meeting you and your wife!
-
We'd like to go, and thanks for the emails about the event. Alas, we'll be somewhere in SE Asia then. Really want to see the museum there.
-
We'll miss you Andy. And you'll miss the museum. It's really fantastic!!
I hope you have a worthwhile trip to SE Asia. If you don't, it will be wasted! :)
-
Ohhh that looks good and fun. Almost worth a trip over the pond to go to...

I just thought I'd ping this thread to remind folks about LOG 37 in Birmingham, AL the weekend of May 20. I'll be going through Charlotte, NC to get there as early as practical on Friday and leaving Monday. I'm organizing a caravan so be sure to let me know if you you'd like to join us!
:lotus:

We have a northeastern Lotus caravan heading down Wednesday for a 2-day trip, with a side trip to the "Back of the Dragon" Thursday. Two groups starting out from NY/NJ/PA (PALS area) with northern group heading down Rt 78 to Rt 81. The southern group is leaving from my residence (TaylorMadeClassicCars) in Haddon Heights, NJ using Rt 295 / Rt 95 corridor. We are converging at Winchester, VA (Rt 7 / Rt 81) for lunch at 12:30PM.
We're a little short on Europas, so why not join in?
contact me if interested in joining. I seem to be the only one from South Jersey/Delaware area?? :)
-
A friend and I are leaving from Raleigh Thrusday. We haven't set a time but the plan is to get there as early as practical on Friday. I expect our route will be to go through Charlotte to Atlanta via I 85 and then to Birmingham via I 20. Let me know if that sounds like we can meet up.
-
Now this one is probably a little too far for me ( ;) ) but I'm expecting lots of photos on Monday morning....... and maybe a Youtube video ?

I'm a terrible picture taker but I'll make an extra effort to get some good pictures!
-
BDA - no, we're doing Rt 81 to Knoxville, then through Chattanooga, then Birmingham totally avoiding Atlanta area altogether.
-
That's a much prettier route. It's about an hour longer for us but not out of the question. I'll talk with my buddy and see if we'll take the scenic route with you all.

One of the great aspects of a LOG is meeting the people you have been communicating with on a Lotus related web site. Well, I finally got to personally meet BDA and his fabulous BDA Europa! Great to meet you Jim!

A few photo's from the Saturday morning LOG37 concours at Barber Motorsports:

If you have never been to the Barber Museum, you are in for a real treat! The largest personal collection of Lotus cars in the world. It's a bit over whelming and you could easily spend days at the museum looking at every detail for the various Lotus race cars on display. Not to mention the motorcycle collection which is even larger......

Some Lotus' at the track for the Historic Races on Saturday:

Excellent shots, and what an impressive turn out. The Club Lotus event at Donnington used to be the biggest assembly of cars that I can recall, but I'm not sure there were as many driven to the event as looks the case over there.
so when's the movie coming ? :)

Glen, it was a real pleasure to finally meet you! Hopefully we can meet at another LOG but this time with your Europa! Being a perennial 3rd place winner in the "casual concours", that would men you would probably bump me out of the top three! I met one other Forum member - TheKid#9. Unfortunately, he didn't bring his Europa to this LOG.
It was a great event - again! I wish I had gone to the paddock. I had no idea there would be such interesting stuff there! Of course, we went to the museum which is, of course, a good use of time also!
I have a bunch of pictures I'm going to post. I'll see if John can open a new gallery.
-
I posted some pictures I took of the Loti where we all were together.
This is where all the cars are collected for the casual concours and the panoramic picture. The casual concours is where all the participants vote on their favorite car in each of several classes (e.g. Europa S2 is a different class than Europa TC). I don't normally know who placed in the casual concours because they only announce the owner's names when they were awarded. This time the second place TC owner sat at the same banquet table with us and the first place TC owner rode back from the Space and Rocket Center with us. I think I counted seven street Europas. The missing one belongs to my buddy who caravaned with me. His was in pretty rough shape.
I have a lot more pictures of the museum and the Space and Rocket Center. I'll try to post them later.
I've been to four LOGs and they've all been great! Meeting other loons (not counting the members of LOONY - Lotus Owners Of New York) is always fun and seeing the cars is a special treat. Meeting Glen (Certified Lotus) and Chris (TheKid#9) made it that more memorable! Hopefully we can get more members at future LOGs.
-
Sounds fantastic, and thanks to you both for the photos. I really wanted to do this LOG and #35 as well, but it just wasn't in the cards. In a couple years I do hope to take in another one (I went to LOG 33). In the mean time I shall peruse the photos and plan for next one I can manage to do. Cheers.
-
I posted a progression of Lotus race cars on display at Barber (hopefully they're in order) in the LOG-37 Gallery.
-
Great pictures Glen! I had no idea we could go tot he paddock too. I went through the museum, which was awesome! I've been before but this time I was able to go to the lower part in the basement which was nice.
I brought my dads Elise this year which was nice. The Europa probably would've made it without any problems but man was I glad I had A/C it was hot out there. Next LOG is in Cleveland, Ohio and I'm sure I'll be able to make that but we'll see, its a ways away.
