Daughters “new” Home.
« on: Wednesday,May 11, 2022, 05:24:41 AM »
My daughter decided to buy a home instead of renting. Of course , “Dad can fix it”, …?
For the past 3 weeks I’ve been there renovating the 60 year old 2/2 duplex . Block and built to hold a tile roof, but only has a new asphalt shingles. Popcorn ceilings had to go, a good pressure washing, a new garage door opener, pull down attic steps instead of a hole in ceiling climbing up and standing on top of a step ladder to get halfway in.
Okay it’s not all bad .
Lol at least she found her way back to her car easily. Last pic
Another two weeks and I should be back working on my car ,,… hopefully at least that’s my plan.

Thanks BDA,  Construction was my first love. Building custom homes from the ground up , my daughters know that I can do it all.

Looks like you are being pulled in many different directions. Great to have many skills but it does take you away from wrenching on your beauty.

Great job! If you want a job done, give it to a busy man!

Nice to hear you’re still wanted by your old company. I was talking to one of our engineers and he said six of ours have gone to intel. Intel actually advertised for aviation engineers specifically. No more cold mornings on the ramp!

After a month… daughter and granddaughter in their new home. With moving truck coming tomorrow, weather permitting.
Grandpa now back in his garage with only some minor painting jobs to complete on doors and cleaning up supplies and tooling.

Back to concentrating on the lotus 😃

What we do for our Children.
Words cannot describe; however, my end of this purchase is coming to a closeas they have moved in.
My garage has scattered of remnants of a few upgrades I thought of.... my mistake.
working on protective barrier for her escape artist dog needed to be accomplished below a fence. EVEE loves to dig.

She has some great neighbors that I met while renovation ware going on.  An 85-year-old Korean war vet that's quick as a whip, whom I replaced his flag, which he flies daily and I added a state flag. Another is a true retired NASA rocket scientist that has a gift to gab.
I love every minute of their stories.
Ill post the final pics of her home as soon as she's done decorating and my expanding list of chores is complete..

This is one of my transformations , a louvred door slats cut out and panels. She didn’t like the look so I did this.  The returns to the furnace and ac ducts still have adequate airflow.

Now that they (Daughter and Granddaughter) moved out, it suddenly turned into Spring Cleaning time at MY house.

I did visit my garage and get to clean off the sawdust off my cars.  When will this ever end?????

I think the reward for your doing such a stellar job for your daughter, you should be able to get extra time in your garage with your baby!!

I agree , with an open budget .

First on my list , make a list of items to complete. It’s a lot of minor items, but it will get me focused again. Second, Read my past threads .
My wife actually floored me and mentioned a lift😁😁.  With 11’ft ceiling it’s a possibllity to get 4 cars in it.

Wow! A lift in your garage would make a great Fathers Day / Grandfathers present.
