Leave me alone, I know what i'm doing
« on: Monday,August 17, 2020, 06:54:27 PM »
During the (boring) Spanish Grand Prix this past weekend, something special took place on lap thirty seven. The record for most miles driven at racing speed in F1 history was broken.

Surpassing Fernando Alonso, Raikkonen broke the mark at 53,009 miles...

That's more than twice around the planet !

It's hard not to love the Ice man, he embodies the true no nonsense racer spirit, free from the commercial handlers and a man to himself. I believe he would fit into any generation of drivers past or present.

Since his debut in 2001 with Sauber and stints with Mclaren, Ferrari, Lotus and Alfa the quiet soft spoken Kimi has always provided entertainment on and off track...

Sadly, "lotusf1team.com" = 404 site not found.

That's a great quote from Kimi! My daughter got a t-shirt with that quote on it.

I'm not surprised that the Lotus F1 site is down since Renault bought the Lotus team.

Sitting next to an attractive fan at the Canadian race a few years back, her t shirt said...

"Kimi...I'm pregnant,,,call me"

Two of my favorites.
“Suddenly the steering wheel was in my hands. I tried to put it back on, but it was too late. I was just wondering where I was going to end up.”

Interviewer: “The helmet has a special meaning for many drivers. How important is it to you?”
Kimi: “It protects my head.”

I also like the picture of him pointing to the red light at the end of the pit road after Louis Hamilton ran into his stopped Ferrari.  Don't remember which track this was at.  Would love to hear what he had to say.

Haha me too. :D
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.
