Today while driving.... My odometer stopped working, although the speedometer still works great. I'm hoping to find some one that can repair my speedometer.... I'm driving a '73 TC Special and feel that the speedo cable is not the problem... Thanks

These chaps are in Cali.

Thanks for the information. I will call them Monday to inquire about repairing my speedo.
-
AFAIK, they have a good reputation.

It sounds like JB put you onto good people but if you have a problem, Nisonger (I believe they are in NJ) is a Smiths dealer and repair shop. I’ve used them a few times and they treated me fairly.

They are in New York:
Nisonger Instruments
225 Hoyt Avenue
Mamaroneck, NY 10543
Phone: 914-381-3600
Fax: 914-381-1435
info@nisonger.com

Thanks for the information. Nisonger is $150.00 less than Palo Alto and 2-3 weeks faster to repair. Nisonger charges $200.00 plus parts. Palo Alto charges $350.00 plus parts. So my speedo is going to NIsonger which is a Smiths Authorized Repair Center.

That's pretty interesting! I've used Nisonger before and never considered them to be inexpensive. In fact, I thought they were a bit pricy. It's nice to know that they are a better deal than I thought.

So far, I've gotten both a throttle and speedometer cable from Dick's Speed-O-Tach for free. They refused any payment both times and said "come back when you need that Lotus speedometer re-calibrated"
-
I contacted Dick's Speedo and was told that they do not work on Lotus speedometers because parts are to hard to get.
-
I would suspect that speedo cables are somewhat standardized and more readily available.
It sounds like if you need any work on your gauges, Nisonger is the place to go. I think they will repair or restore any Smiths gauge.
