Ever wondered how a Facet fuel pump works?
« on: Thursday,November 26, 2020, 09:24:41 AM »
For those of us who like to take things apart to see how they work, found a YouTube video that does just that for the ubiquitous Facet fuel pump. That clicking sound you hear when the pump is working is the spring loaded plunger moving back and forth pumping the fuel.

Very cool!

If I might ever entertain the thought of fixing one of those, that disabused me of that!

The guy in the second video didn’t seem to like the Facet pump’s longevity. Maybe he should tell the people in the first video so they won’t get caught with a failing pump when they’re flying!

What's funny is that early  on in the first video, there is a spec sheet on the Facet pump which states that the pump is not designed for aircraft use as the last item. I guess there are cheap skates in the home built aircraft world also.
