Starting to get all my parts together to build a 1604 Gordini engine, with my new 78mm 10.5 to 1 Wiesco pistons, the new wrist pin is 21mm, need to bore the rods out to 23mm then insert a new bushing to fit, had to make a fixture to hold the rod in place to machine the pin end out to 23mm, the rods will then be pin honed to suit the new Aluminum Bronze bushings that I made , the press fit will be .001 interference fit, once installed they will be honed again to fit the 21mm free floating pin to .0003 clearance, one of the pictures shows an older Gordini rod with the bushing installed, will keep you posted on the build

Interesting to see.
The R12-G Gordini rods came as standard with 21mm fully floating pins - same as R17TS / Gordini as sold in Australia and I believe, Europe.
I've heard of some engines using these Gordini rods with press fit 20mm pins in other markets. Why they did that, I don't know.
Is this an 843 engine.

Are proper Gordini rods the same as 18 Turbo rods which arent the same as 821 rods, the Turbo rods are much stronger
