I know some time has passed since I first started this thread but thought I'd post photo's of the now finished item.
As can be seen it became a project in itself but I am personally happy with the result - (even though it won't be seen.  :confused:)
I opted not to re-invent the wheel concerning the grill, I did re-invent the mounting arrangement whereby the grill is mounted on silent blocks and sits some 15mm forward of the radiator core so when installed the grill is flush within the wheel arch.
You will note I went to the trouble of remounting the original manufactures plate - I felt it deserved it.
