Just for info, the Lotus head has aadditional holes drilled in it to allow greater flow for improved cooling. If you buy a Renault head gasket, you need to punch corresponding holes, or else you will overheat. Ask me how I know .... :-)

Do you have any pictures showing the extra holes? Just curious as this is the first time I have heard of it.

Thanks Steve
got gaskets and everything I need to pull the engine apart a see what 20 years of sitting has done.
Still looking for a rebuildable distributor. But I have an electromotive set up I can use if I need to.

I do not have pictures. I removed the head 3 times when it overheated in the first 15 minutes, convinced the problem was elsewhere. On try #3 is saw green dots on the gasket where coolant had been blocked. As I recall, there are about 8 or 10 1/4" holes in the head, if you look at the bottom of the head, you'll see them.

I have made it a habit to compare old with new as part of the process! But I will take a close look at the holes on old head gasket.
Thanks
