Test drive last weekend was problematic but once I sorted the brakes out I had another trip out yesterday. Still struggling with gears but I could easily get 2nd 4th and Rev so I was able to have a short  and quite exiliarting spin round the block. Going to my local garage this week to sort out the linkage and hopefully for MOT. Latest photos in the sun have come out well.

Driving around is real progress....   and the sun is shining over here as well !  (but it's still cold down here)

If your garage has facilities it might be worth getting them to check front & rear alignments whilst they're doing the MoT. That's not casting aspersions on your rebuild, I normally do my own alignments but have had my local garage check and confirm for me at MoT time. Toe out at the rear is going to spoil your enjoyment of the car and the reassurance of a check is well worth it, even if they say "it's good" I don't begrudge the cost.

Congrats Gmg31! She looks fantastic! A real piece of history there. Do you know of any other restored Else Europas in existence? How many were made/converted? (Apologies if that info is buried in the thread somewhere and I missed it.)

Congratulations on your maiden drive!  :beerchug:

Here's hoping you get your shift problem straightened out soon!

The car looks great. Congrats on the short test drive. Hears hoping you get the shift issues sorted, and I second Brian's suggestion to have the alignment verified. Hope you get properly road ready soon. Cheers.

Thanks guys, yes tracking is on the list. As far as I’m aware there is only one other restored Else Europa that is Steve Jarvis who is in the forum and then there is one being restored in Ireland by Peter who is also in the group.

What's that on the sills, is it a vinyl covering or printed aluminium ? It looks good and sets off the "entrance" very well.

Pretty! You need an ashtray, though. Certified Lotus might be able to help you!  :)

Impressive! Very nice work. Yes, I do have a “spare”ash tray but they are stupid expensive.

Actually, I had forgotten you had a spare, I was thinking he could hire you to find one for him since you obviously have a talent for it!  :))

Had a bit of an argument with the MOT centre who failed her on the number plates. He insists she has to have reflective number plates and refused to read the official Gov guidance on pre 73 cars. So I’ve had to spend money on temp plates to pass and then take them off.   No more. MOT after May so shouldnt have that problem again.
