That is WAY too close to home!
Kind of hac, er, "Modified", I wonder if that front spoiler is large enough? ;D
I understand the tail lamps to be difficult/expen$ive to get.
Do not see a dash or gauges either. If the frame is sound the rest of it would not seem that difficult?
If no one else is closer I could do an examination.
Please tell me I cannot put this on my credit card, and do not offer to take any less.
Maybe pass this on to Dreams of a 47, he could work on the conversion while driving his current car.

I dislike the flares
-
You can put some reasonably sized rubber under the stock fenders.
-
I hate the flairs too. They belong on Mr. T’s Vandura.
-
Some say that all fiberglass can be repaired.
The S1 on FB is $6K now, but I think it is more complete in some ways.
This one looks like it should have some sort of racing history.
Now if both would just come down to earth one might provide parts for the other.
And they are not a tremendous distance apart.
-
Must....resist.....don't need....4 broken S1 cars......but it would be the completion of the holy trinity.....S1, S1A, and S1B....Someone buy it please.

Go on Chuck Nukem, one more for the collection.... 8)
(I'm not 100% sure if this is an S1 or an S1A?)
-
Its an S1. Owner said its number 86. Who needs a retirement? The smart money is in broken S1 Europas.
-
Any clue of racing history, and if so, by whom and where?
Flares seem extreme for a street car.

I have taken a look at the registry and 86 isn't listed, so that's another example found!
go on, you know it needs collecting.... :pirate:
-
You know you'll regret it if you don't get it Chuck....
You collect Lotus's like others collect matchbox cars...
-
@skippopotamus Can you confirm the chassis number is 460086? Many thanks.
-
If, it has the original chassis plate, and, if it has a title, then it's really not that bad. I mean, it IS that bad but not really for a real, low number S1. The egregious body mods make it look much worse than it actually is. They would be moderately easy to remove and the body would look a million precent better.
You can even save a little shipping by asking them to bin the air cooled VW oil pump...

I looked up the engine number in the registry and that chassis number came back. I think it's accurate but I never actually found that number on the car.

I don't have any history on the car.
The flares are egregious but so is the purple and the pin striping. It all fits a car that was modified in the 70's.
-
I love the purple. The pin striping not so much....
-
As this is an early S1 Europa the chassis number is quite interesting. You'll find the number on the right chassis leg as a faint stamped number, it's not easy to spot. The location is near the coolant tube fixing hole and the welded on bracket that holds the seat belt strut.
-
The listing seems to have gone now. When are you collecting it Chuck? :FUNNY:
-
Not me :))
I did the next best thing to keep the car in my orbit. I asked a friend of mine to buy it so I am no longer tempted! He lives in Colorado and is going to pick it up right now.

Is that what you told your partner so you don't have to explain? ...or are they just holding it for you? ;D

Chuck, thank you for helping us get the Europa into the hands of someone who’ll do something with it. He’s on his way back now.
-
Nice! And for the second time...I dislike those flares!!
-
A lot of serial # and database talk in this thread so I’ll ask here: is there a way to edit the database entry? I have a car listed there and want to update status and change names. Thanks! Mark

I do plan to pull molds off of my S1A eventually, so I should have a way to help Will (the new owner) return the car to proper form.
-
Thank you Charles. Helping to save another S1 is great. I hope the new owner can share his restoration journey.

Well done and congratulations Will!

Mark (RacerX),
You'll want to contact Dan Morrison, he's running the register these days. He's on this board as s2europa. Send him a PM and hopefully you can get your cars info updated.
