Thanks for posting this! I have a 71 S2 that has a turbo fuego motor that is fuel injected. This car came to me with the motor in sad shape. This would be the perfect drop in swap!

    I'm torn AGAIN.
Its not a need but a want. I can get by with what I have .
Its all yours Chuck. however ask for a picture of the motor mount bolt position on block. but then why would a lotus owner have it in his collection if it didn't fit.

 Chuck,
I have one and will test the blocks’ head bolt threads tomorrow by bolting down the head and rockers with a used gasket . If it can reach 65ft lbs ...I’m good.  Merry Christmas.
Adding an AC compressor on it is more difficult than the wedge but it can go if you settle for a DGV carb intake manifold. Definitely not with dual Weber’s’.  On the header side ,.. testing that soon.

You can put an AC compressor on a crossflow with dual sidedrafts.  I've done it.  It's not easy.  The main problem is that the overhung pulleys on the water pump can't take the tensions required to keep the AC belt from slipping.  I machined the water pump housing and modified the pulleys to fit a bearing to support the pulleys.

Basic layout:

First mod, fit larger idler pulley to reduce stress on the belt:

Supporting there overhung pulleys:

Then there's the issue of bumping the idle when the AC is on:

Good?  Yes.  Completely satisfactory?  If I had to do it again, I'd fit an electric AC system.

use toothed drive belt pulleys, these are a set that I made to drive the WP and Alternator for Andy Short's Fuego (R18) Turbo Europa, didn't work because i didn't hard anodise the pulleys
