Chap in Canada imported a few 2500Ms without engines and trannies.  He “dropped” in a Ford 302 with a four seed and called it a 5000M.  My former boss has one.

I didn’t have to worry about removing the pedals …. The mounting plate dissolved from water  :-\

Man, that is a pretty archaic assembly/factory facility! It's amazing what they were able to accomplish there!

It is much easier to lift the shell off the metal chassis with the pedal box fully out. It is not difficult.

I'll do that then!  I do appreciate the help from those who have done this (several times in some cases!) before - I would have struggled more so far without wiser counsel.

On the negative, the brake and clutch pedals look like being a swine to get out...

One you have disconnected the clutch cable and the brake bar to the M/C, the only thing holding the pedals in place are 4 x 1/4"UNF nuts under the body. You will probably have to loosen all 4 and tap with a hammer as the plate on the inside tends to stick to the bodyshell.

So pleased to hear that - was worried I had to get that out before lifting the body - will leave it until after then in that case.

Back in 78/79 there was a group of us who met regularly on Sundays, mostly Marcos owners and one guy managed to blag a group visit to the TVR factory in Blackpool.

We'd just turned up when  Martin Lilley drove up with I think a Rolls Royce, smiled at us scruffy lot and said "hello, come in".    We ended up spending all afternoon wandering around, very laid back with access all areas. The production line was pretty crude and I remember they had a Griffith in there for restoration plus a few crashed cars waiting repairs.

These photos are quite poor, scanned from 35mm and taken with available lighting in what you can see was a very old fashioned factory.  But it's a period piece and probably where you car was made ?
