My PFAFF 545 industrial sewing machine now almost works.
« on: Thursday,February 02, 2023, 06:33:18 PM »
Overdid it yesterday with having to get my forklift unstuck from mud.  :headbanger:
Since I could not do anything strenuous I decided that this was a good day to sort out the PFAFF 545 sewing machine.
The problem had been that it would not pick up thread from the bobbin.
I thought that the timing might be off but after finding a good youtube video that was confirmed to be fine.
But I did learn that the needle was facing the wrong way, and the stroke length was off.
Once I corrected those issues I was able to sew some scrap vinyl but now seem to have some issue with thread breaking.
I've order a lifetime supply of new needles and am looking over the thread path for nicks and burrs.
The plan is to make my own upholstery for the Lotus and some other cars if my eyes will let me.
