I’m thinking of buying a 1969 Kent-powered Lotus 7 S3 basket case. Could someone please talk me out of it? Thanx
-
Sure thing, don't do it. Send me the info instead and I'll buy it....
Is this the one in Ontario that's in pieces?
-
I won't be much help either. Sadly, if you have the money, the bandwidth, a place to put it, and a wife who understands, I think you'll have no choice but to buy it. That's just the way the world works...
-
I would love to see it rescued and rebuilt by someone. Why not you?
-
Yup, the one in pieces in Ontario. Not sure if I want to dilute my focus on the Europa…
-
Coffin on wheels.
Have an accident, they take the wheels off, and bury you with the car.
If you think a Europa is small against an articulated lorry, a Caterham could go straight underneath the lorry.
The days of KAR 120C are long over.
-
Guys, you are not succeeding in talking jbc out of this. Let me try. JB, your most recent posts are about fine tuning a pretty much working great Europa. I think you might be bored if you don’t get the 7. Wait, that didn’t come out like I thought.
(I think the Europa is a coffin on wheels, too, up against Denalis, Everests, and Olympus Mons SUVs)

Survey says...
Goggles with a leather skull cap will do nicely.
-
You could help me with TCST instead......
-
You know what answer you really want.......Go for it!
-
If you say yes, do you need help here in Ontario to get it ready to ship?

JB,
2X what sandy said, I can also use a break from this heat down here.

I ask for help and — what do I get? — encouragement!?!?
;-)
-
I am having to start from a barely rolling chassis and no bodywork for my Kent powered 7 replica.
Sounds like you have the chance to get one far ahead of mine.

I thought you'd already got a motorbike for when you wanted to get wet & cold driving somewhere ? ;)

The "cut down doors" presents an unknown "challenge".

Definitely. The windscreen frame isn't a problem but door frames most certainly are if you want to restore an S3. The frames are either NLA or extremely expensive in comparison with the bidding on the car to date. And even when you've re-mortgaged your house you've still got to find a pair :(
It looks as if the DPO has tried for an S1 or 26R look which is a shame because otherwise it looks original (the silver sticker under the door was a period thing)

Don't listen to that BDA killjoy fella. :FUNNY:
It went for just $6,100.00

;D
$6,100 is certainly a big discount from the $66,000 an Elan got on BaT recently - of course, the BaT car was assembled and beautiful!
Think of it this way: I save the D’man $60,000 dollars! :)
-
I don't think it met the reserve.

Dreaming, IMHO.

Ah, yes, it looks that way.
The re-listed item has a $15,000 'Buy it now' price.
The seller also mentions the inclusion of "$7000 in new parts" which wasn't well specified in the original auction.

Bid but came in second. Probably a good thing. It's going to Nova Scotia.
-
Oh well, JB... Another of one kind or another will come along and tempt you all over again!
