"starting device" cable clamp?
« on: Thursday,January 30, 2020, 06:59:11 AM »
Along with other things, my TC with Strombergs doesn't have the cable for the 'starting device' (aka "choke", but not really) installed, though I have the cable.

I'd like to install it, but the cable housing clamp is missing on the carburetor.  Seems dumb, but I'm having trouble envisioning just what I need that will work with the bit that is present.  Can someone show me a photo of what I should have?

I had some back-and-forth with Joe Curto, the carb expert, but nothing came of it.

Picture attached.  What you see is a wire that's dead-ended at the cam lever and led through the clamp screw that's present.  I pull that thing up and bend the wire over to operate it.

Insight appreciated!... Vince

You need the spring steel clip that holds the housing:

On a carb:

Any British parts supplier will have them.

That's great.  Thanks.  Don't know why I couldn't find that or get my message across to Mr. Curto.

The left half of this thing looks like what I expected.  The other half.... does it just snap onto the bracket?  Seems that the screw on my bracket is non-standard.

All those nice emojis and the like, but no 'thumbs up'.
Thanks!

You're cleverer or more observant than I, Dave.

Very clever indeed, D'man! How did you do that? I tried to use an emoji from another forum but couldn't do it.

Fotog, you’re absolutely correct to give JB Two thumbs up.I don’t know how he finds his answers so fast.  I also agree we could use a few more icons up top.  I’m on my mobile device so it has an icon key. A regular keyboard or laptop does not.

Jeez.  Dumb!  I thought the emoji button on my Android only showed up in texting/SMS application.  I never even thought to look at the keypad on this here Android.  And to think: at one time I programs computers everyday for my living!🤭
