Gear reduction starter...need a pic
« on: Thursday,August 18, 2022, 05:54:50 PM »
Does anyone have the gear reduction starter from RD Ent on their Twin Cam?

Can you post a pic of it mounted (possibly with a tape measure going from the block out right above it)? The stock starter solenoid is in my way for turbo exhaust plumbing....

Thanks!!!

Not sure if this will help. I no longer have the TCS but the starter was from RD Ent.

I have a Tilton Super Starter that I got from Dave Bean decades ago now. I think it is shorter than the stock starter. You might want to give Ken at Dave Bean a call and see if they still sell those or if their starters are shorter than the stock starters.

Thanks for the pic Joji. Is there a fitment issue as indicated in your pic?

No fitment issues with the starter. Its just a bit of a concern having the power cable so close to the engine. Obviously there is zero chance of contact with the starter bolted tight but just the thought of a tool jamming itself in there wearing through the plastic cover. I don't recall if I was ale to clock the starter in the opposite direction. I'm still a worry wort.
