Hello from Pittsburgh, PA
« on: Sunday,December 20, 2020, 11:41:47 AM »
Hello everyone.  :newhere:
My name is Gabe and I am the proud new owner of 4163R. I was very happy to find this forum and I have been searching it religiously since I started looking for a Europa.
I purchased the '75 Tc Special from Lotus Ltd Club President Tony Vaccaro. I was also very happy to meet his son Brian and discuss all things automotive.
Both of them were true Lotus enthusiasts and generally awesome people. I highly recommend joining Lotus Ltd https://lotusltd.com/
Before Tony purchased the car, It was owned by a gentleman in Tennessee who had passed away after letting the car sit since 2007.
Tony had not performed any work on the car and I bought it after confirming everything was ship-shape.

The car is now safely in my garage in Pittsburgh.
Short term plans are to check all major systems and refresh things as necessary, standard practice for any car that has been sitting.
Everything was in good shape so I do not foresee any crazy overhauls.

Long term plans are to get the car set up for vintage racing without sacrificing the ability to drive on the street.
I'll be sure to take pictures and document the process.

I look forward to tapping into the knowledge on this forum and, hopefully, contributing to said knowledge.

It appears that your rocker trim is gold? Does it look like original paint? Thanks

I love white Europas.  I also like the gold rocker panel covers.  Looks like a great car.  Best of luck and you are in very good hands with the brain trust here.

It looks similar to the pin-striping in some areas and different in others.
I'll keep an eye out for clues over the holidays when I'm working through other systems checkups.

It has an aftermarket amplifier and the rear subframe is painted. It isn't crazy to think somebody spruced up the rockers at some point as well.

It's hard to tell but I would think that if your rocker trim is original, what you're seeing is a yellowing of the paint. I would think that if they had been repainted gold, the color would be uniform.
