Single windshield wiper arm alternative
« on: Monday,May 08, 2017, 05:40:18 PM »
I have an early S2 with a single windshield wiper setup like the S1. I'm missing the arm but have the motor assembly. Is there any other arm that would match up?  Anybody have any ideas. Thanks tom

Are you saying you have everything but the wiper arm (motor, tubing, gear box, etc.)?

I'm not familiar with the single wiper mechanism but it looks just like the dual. I can't believe the knurling on the gear box is any different from any early Brit car. I would think the  issue is to just get the correct length of wiper arm.

Am I missing something?

That's it exactly. If any one has a single wiper set up could you measure the arm length and wiper blade length. Thank. Tom

End to end: 16.25"

Pivot centre to end: 15.75"

Arm is straight.

Tom, I'm not certain if the wiper arm that came off my S1 is original or not but dimensionally, if appears to be very close if not identical to my S2 arm. The only difference being the blade length. The S2 blade w/o the refill is about 11.5" long, the S2 blade is approx. 16" long. If that's the case a standard length wiper arm should work. The knurling on my S1 arm is stripped, will look at a S2 arm for replacement.

Correct wiper blade for a single wiper system is 16".

Thanks for the info guys. I called Ray at RD and they had one. I usually start there but didn't think there would be any new ones.
