Title: Wiper blade refill
Post by: Bryan Boyle on Wednesday,June 14, 2023, 01:01:10 PM
I have the (I think..) OEM wire frame wiper blade assembly...with the refillable blade.  I'd rather not replace the frame, and thinking that if I could just find the right refill (it's got the squeeze lock on one end...) that would be great (driving home in a downpour last weekend...it was only the upper 1/3 of the windscreen that was getting cleared...the blade is definitely past its prime).

Anyone have a suitable part number for anco or trico that'll fit?  Thought I'd throw out here before surfing, since the knowledge resides here versus whatever duck duck go throws up on the monitor...

TIA

You want ANCO U-16R. I found some on ebay. Anco's website doesn't mention them so I wonder how long they'll be available.

Seems like they're discontinued.  I'd hate to have to buy the speedline arms with the new blades that are available from the usual suspects...and the replacement full blades with bayonet fittings are all black.  Sigh.  Progress, right?

I got them from parrishwholesalesurplus on ebay. Maybe you can contact him to see if he can get some more. I don't know how to contact a specific ebay seller with just his ID but this is something else he's selling so you can contact him from this page: https://www.ebay.com/itm/225588682153

Is this a stock TC wiper arm ? If 43-160's are correct for it they are hard to locate.

No kidding.  Just spent an hour searching amazon|ebay|AutoZone|pepboys|advance|O'Reilly...all out-of stock.  Did send a message to trico through their website...but I've a suspicion that they'll claim 'supply chain' issues.  The 43- series are still listed on their website, but in the sites above...the common notation is "Out of Stock".

May just bite the bullet and get replacement bayonet blade/holder assemblies and save the OEM to pop on for shows (if they are going to be that pedantic about the correctness of the wiper blades...)

I tried buying some. They only allow “Canada” as the country to ship to. Too bad.

Apparently OER 17528D is an alternative.

You can also look for Trico 44-160, CarQuest 453-160, or CarQuest 454-160.  See this post:

Found a USA source for refills. Classic Industries Part# 17528D for $16.99. They fit the stock arms, but the end lock spade grooves are a bit short. A small file rectified that.

went digging at a local parts store and found 4 dusty Trico 33-162 frames/blades in a box in the back.  (Helps that the owner knows me down here in PA).  Don't need the frames, but the blades are pliable (and still have the protectors on them...the boxes were still sealed...and the blades have the right attachment (slide in).

What we go through to get all the bits and bobs for these things, right?  But, if you need it, you need it.

Snapped all 4 up for $25 usd total.  Probably more than just the blades were originally, but, now I've 4 new frames I don't need, but enough replacement blades for as long as I own this buggy, I guess.  Dug further, and have a few of the speedline frames in my (fast dwindling) spares shelves from previous disassemblies, so, I think I'm probably good to go.  I should either ship the rest of the stuff up to MA...or, thinking of cashing out during the real estate boom in Fall River (in preparation for the MBTA starting commuter rail from Boston...prices of homes is up 50-75% in 4 years in the town...) and reconsolidate back in PA where my second home is...
