Good morning all,
And another new one!
I have been watching your exchanges for many years. They are always very interesting.
I also have a Europa. An S1 bought when I was young 32 years ago. I drive this car a lot, I love it. Sometimes I need to have information, or I can also give it because I only repaired my car ten years ago.
It is for this reason that I wished to be able to have access to the discussions
I hope that googletraduction will allow me to be understandable.

Welcome Hachille,
You have kept her in beautiful condition. Feel free to ask away! Looks like you got the posting pictures down pat.

Hachille,
Welcome! It's great to see you on this board too.
If anyone hasn't seen it yet, his car is a regular on this site: https://forum-auto.caradisiac.com/topic/374864-lotus-europe-%C3%A0-moteur-renault-et-sa-petite-soeur-%C3%A0-moteur-fordlotus/ (https://forum-auto.caradisiac.com/topic/374864-lotus-europe-%C3%A0-moteur-renault-et-sa-petite-soeur-%C3%A0-moteur-fordlotus/)

Welcome to the forum, Hachille. Your S1 is beautiful. :beerchug:

Welcome. Nice car!

Hello
Thank you for your welcome.
This car is one of the first S1. The body is original.
The interior is quite close to the origin.
The body is removable from the chassis.
the interior of the front trunk is waterproof. The front cover is hinged differently.
The Engine is an 807-20 transformed into 1596cc, the gearbox is a mix between NG1, NG3, and 336-08.
175 tires at the front and 205 at the rear.
Other small modifications to make the car more comfortable.

Superb!
Thank you for the photos.

Nice! The air conditioning condenser is mounted in the rear? Where is the evaporator etc. mounted?

Beautifully done! :beerchug:

Love the A/C , where did you mount the condenser? I'm in the process of of installing a "under dash system" instead of routing lines to front section , thinking about a aft location. the under dash section in the aux fuel tank location piped in.
I don't want to hijack your thread but we need this discussion.
JB has a beautiful S! with air. trust me, you can spend hours looking at his mods.
welcome again and appreciate the pictures.

Hello,
I made a mistake in the editing. I should have placed the evaporator in the front compartment. The system works very well with a temperature in the evaporator which desends up to 2 ° C, but afterwards the air heats up because the distance is too long. When I have time, the evaporator will have to be moved. The assembly allows to keep the rear trunk.

I thought long and hard about putting the evaporator near the engine. I thought an extra tank would be more useful. It has proven to be so as distances between fuel stops can be huge in the new world. Adding air recirculation is good idea. Something I've been considering adding to my system. That, and a way of shutting off the stock flow through air.
-
Indeed, the distances are shorter in France. I still have a can of gasoline on my spare wheel in the front when I do a lot of road.
I think the evaporator should be placed just before the air enters the passenger compartment. You should feel the fresh air on your face and on your clothes.

Luggage space is critical -- at least it's critical after my wife complete fills the rear compartment with her gear -- so I did not want to lose the front luggage area. I agree it is the best spot for the evaporator though. I fit mine in place of the spare tire:

I pack an electric compressor and flat repair kit for emergencies.
My ducts run up the edge of front compartment:

It all works. Cold air on hot days is a life saver in an S1.

Very nice job.
I did not dare to place the condenser in front of the water radiator. I was worried that I would no longer have good engine cooling.
I agree that a little fresh air in an S1 is important.

Hachille, After looking at your engine pictures I really enjoyed seeing the metal tubing lines along side the engine for the heater.
I thought it was an original idea on my wedge, Is that stock or did you add it?

I made the 3 tube set. Fixing on the exhaust manifold.

I saved that picture for future use on my crossflow. 😀 It cleaned up the overall appearance nicely.
As well as your other modifications.

Thank you for your welcome and your messages. I take care of this voture that I bought in 1986. I was young and I did not know everything about Lotus Europe. It's really a coincidence that it's the 009. At that time it was the one I could buy. But she was in very bad condition. I really like the mechanics, its restoration brought me a lot of satisfaction.
Happy New Years Holidays

Excellent! Did you do all the work?

Excellent! Did you do all the work?
There are only two things I haven't done. The seats and the paint.
I did the rest of the restoration. Like many of you.
-
You really did a transformation on that car! Congratulations on the great work and result! :beerchug:

I like the look of the first picture: very eighties and very French. Two Renault 5 next to what looks like a Golf MK1 and the Europa having a southern France sunbath. We often spend our holidays in France which is a beautiful country.
