Garage / Lubricating clutch release bearing guide tube
« Last post by Sparkrite on Today at 09:23:08 AM »
My clutch action is getting gradually more stiff and as I have isolated the cable as the source, I am thinking it's the clutch release bearing guide tube. I didn't pay enough attention to it last time I was in there but for now I would like to grease it a bit before I eventually have to pull out the gearbox.
Can this be done in situ without any dismantling.

I don't know the ethanol percentage in the UK. Do they even use ethanol over there?

Alcohols like ethanol absorb more water than straight gasoline.

Odd that they say the color is green. At least they acknowledge that it is “used”.

That’s the vent I was thinking about. I imagine it would depend on how full the tanks were, how much air volume could change with each “breath”. Another thought, are there gas formulations that like to absorb moisture from the air?

Isn't there a overflow vent in the filler neck just below the grommet? If its open to atmosphere, the constant change in temperature over time will cause the tanks to "breathe". Is that enough time to cause all of that condensation you are experiencing?

Well, at least the hardest part has been done, just have to find a chassis to fit.

Your probably correct Gavin, dimming down the full illuminating ring would be the best solution than having it glaring at you or having a yellow glow. I”lol look into it today and see if I can break into it. It’s a mechanical oil pressure btw.
I didn’t want another delay but there is no sense putting everything back in and having regrets later. 🥱🥱👍👍

I keep coming back to wondering if there is a market for a well designed and durable dual Weber air cleaner assembly using a readily available paper filter.
Chris Neils (Lotus independant specialist) offered one in the 80s/90s which came as a folded metal back plate with a flat filter clamped in place. This did away with the OEM front cover and trunking to the separate air filter canister. I had one (it's probably still on the shelf somewhere) because when I bought the Elan it was missing the cover/trunking and running on open weber trumpets with no filtration.

It's a poor shot, but you can get the idea from this old photo taken during a respray...
