No....  :FUNNY:
Sorry - the rear coil overs are not as yet attached to the rear uprights and the drive shafts are temporarily suspended from large cable ties.
I have some fine tuning to do in this area and wanted to keep everything as accessible as possible.
Hope this answers your query and that I have not miss understood.
The lower radius arms are of course "home modified" - they are adjustable in length to aid camber adjustment - when I get to that stage .....  :)) :))

Good luck!
Very interesting connection for the rear lower link. Is that for a custom sway bar?

Good morning,
The car that followed on the assembly line was delivered to France.
The original plates are different

Hello Europa TC,
That's interesting. The top plate is engraved rather than stamped, which is the same as my '68 Elan whereas my '72 Europa plate is stamped. Neither state the model name, just the "Type" identification number.
We see a similar plate on number 30

My guess from those two plates is that the top one is the original Lotus plate and the lower one added by the importing dealership ?

Interesting that the lower plate says "EUROPE" rather than Europa, does that car have the rare "EUROPE" badge on it ?

She does not have a Europe Badge

On the negative, the brake and clutch pedals look like being a swine to get out...

One you have disconnected the clutch cable and the brake bar to the M/C, the only thing holding the pedals in place are 4 x 1/4"UNF nuts under the body. You will probably have to loosen all 4 and tap with a hammer as the plate on the inside tends to stick to the bodyshell.

I have been away from the TCS for some time - life in general - you all know how it is.  As some of you will remember I have previously posted details on many of the journeys on this rebuild.
Thought I'd post an update - early in the month I decided I just had to get back into it and that the best thing I could do was to start the engine and sort out any gremlins before I proceeded further, (if at all tbh).
Photo's show what I set up temporarily regarding cooling, fuel, electrics plus oil control panel - yes I know - some of it is in wood - but it works....  :))
I will post later with an update on how it all went - along with questions on some of the new (but minor) challenges I now have.

Can you get an impact driver with an extended socket on it ?

I'm a late convert to these things but having bought a cheap wired Lidl driver I'm sold on the tool. Things I would previously have struggled with breaker bars just come off PDQ....

I'm not sure if that would work, as the bolt itself is loose but fused to the lever. I've got an old school impact driver which I will try with a socket and see if it might shock free, but the bolt is moving around like the thread it was screwed into, presumably on the chassis, has stripped or rusted away...

Garage / Speedo Accuracy Calculations
« Last post by 4129R on Monday,May 27, 2024, 11:33:15 PM »
I think my speedo is under-reading so I did some calculations.

For a 5 speed box on a TC, the gearing in 5th is 3.289 and 185/70/13 tyres revolve 870 times per mile. So the engine revolves 870 x 3.289 = 2861.43 times per mile in 5th.

Therefore at 1000 rpm, in 5th gear you are doing (1000/2861.43) x 60 miles per hour = 20.97 mph.

In 4th the gearing is 4.574, so you are doing 15.08 mph.

For a 4 speed box the gearing for 4th is 3.666 which equates to 18.81 mph, and in 3rd, the gearing is 5.268 which equates to 13.09 mph.

(This information is as much for my future benefit as anyone else's!)

Not impressed with leveling the bed  using a piece of paper.
I think you've got an older model Richard, mine has auto bed levelling and so far (tempting fate) I've not had to touch it in probably 2-3yrs ?

Give it some time, I reckon you'll become a convert once you get into it.
