TC flywheel orientation?

I've searched for a procedure but have not found one.  My educated guess is to put the engine at TDC on #1 and then bolt the flywheel on so it shows its TDC mark through the opening on the bellhousing  :confused: My engine is getting assembled in my basement and the transaxle is in the garage, so I can get a idea where the window is  :confused:

Not having ever doing that, I think you’re right. The timing window is about 15 - 20 degrees from vertical. There are, I think, 6 bolts on the flywheel which means that you would be able to move the flywheel in 60 degree increments. It should be pretty easy to know it you’re in the window.

When facing the 6 bolt flywheel, the timing marks are slightly to the right of 12.00 o'clock.

As each bolt is 60 degrees difference, you should be about 20-25 degrees to the right of 12.00 o'clock, about 01.00.

The easiest way is to just rotate the engine so that the notch in the front pulley is at the 0 degrees marker on the front cover.
After that you only need to rotate and bolt on the flywheel so that its zero line is where the opening in the bellhousing would be.  8)

I didn’t even notice the notch on the crank pulley.  Makes sense now.  Thanks for the help :beerchug:
