Amber Lucas front side indicators. Lens source?
« on: Saturday,January 08, 2022, 04:02:06 PM »
As near as I may determine the correct side lamps for my S2 are Lucas 541 Red for the rear and matching Amber for the front.
PO removed the front, as much as I like the smooth look I do want to put them back on the car.
The red are easy to find, I have several spares if anyone needs them.
The front use the exact same base but with Amber lenses.
I had thought these would be simple to replace but am not having much luck locating them.
Later model Triumph Spitfire 1500 use the correct lenses but a slightly different rubber base.
Not finding those now either, which is a bit surprising as lots were sold.
I like these lamps/reflectors as they are pretty flush with the body unlike so many replacements.

I know a lot of us remove them, so hoping someone may have a set to part with?

I would suggest the L734 of the early cars and euro cars. It is pretty easy to mount and looks much better.

No dispute, but.
The 541 type are more flush and include a reflector element.
Amazing how often cars get hit while parked with the lights out.
To buy the 734 type I would source them from UK, US price is more than double, PLUS shipping and tax.

Lots of searching for the preferred L841 type, currently "NLS" from ALMOST everyone.
I did find new complete units for 90.22 Euros each, plus postage.
Also found the short lens NOS in the UK, but the seller will not send to US. (Wot, still upset about the Boston Tea Party?)
If I have to I may just make silicone-rubber molds and cast my own from resin.
Not too difficult, just time consuming.
Of course if they came out very nice I suppose I could sell a few.
Cannot believe what some are asking for even individual pieces of these lights/reflectors!

Original lens parts numbers FYI.
LU54977 Long reflector.
LU54580212 Short lamp cover.

Located the needed amber lenses and a couple of spares.
So this is one item that will remain original.
Now to find an original red tail lamp lens to replace the one that has an ugly repair.
