Some time ago I asked this question.
Does anyone have a dimensioned drawing (sketch) of the the cross member that the luggage box sits on?
My PO (DPO) replaced the one on my car with a piece of water pipe. Looks wrong and the luggage box does not sit right. I would make a new one but have nothing to copy. If I had material thickness and the dimensions of the rectangular tube it would be a start. Also in the end I would need the height from some reference point. I am assuming that the length is correct because the other geometry is ok.

Hi Gary,
I made my own a couple of years back and thought I'd posted here but as I can't find it now, I reckon it's my memory failing again. I'll go through the notes I made and post a full description, but for now these are the important bits.....
Brackets - the first PDF is what I made up, the second is a rubbing taken from the OEM bracket to show the angles, etc. This is on a TC chassis, I expect the others to be similar.
The original one is shown with approx dimensions. The replacement is much heavier and stronger. I ended up buying 60x40mm rectangular section with 2mm wall thickness. I bought one metre and there was a bit left over. The brackets are also made from rectangular section, I bought 80x40mm section, 4mm wall, half a metre this time.
Later on today I'll post up a PDF with the fabrication method and things I learned making it, it needs a few more photos adding to make things easier to understand.
cheers
Brian
Edit to add - PDF of method attached

Thanks Brian for all the information it will give me a starting point. A quick check of local suppliers has not turned up ant 1.25X 2.25 tubing, but a more indepth surch might. The S2 does not have the brace to the center of the cross member.
Maybe I could make a tube on a bending brake.

I have a spare one in the UK but the cost of shipping it over would probably make it a non-starter.

That would be great but as you say shipping would likely make it unviable, but I will keep you in mind. Also making things is always fun.

I’ll check and see if I have an extra one…

Yup, got one. Yours if you want it. Surface rust but otherwise fine.
My S1 came with a some S2 parts as well. Shift linkages, axles, etc. Off wreck, I believe.

Thanks John I pmed you.
