Title: Lower link bracket
Post by: Gary t on Thursday,March 17, 2022, 07:35:12 PM
Does anyone have, I  their left over box, a lower link bracket.  I n my car the po installed a shop built bracket  and it gives me 3 degrees of negative camber on the right rear.  Looks funny.
I know I could invest in a set of adjustable links but my objective is to keep it as close to stock as reasonable.

Lotus Supplies sells replacement brackets. I'd imagine that r.d. enterprises, Dave Bean, and other Brit suppliers do as well.

I understand wanting to keep your car as stock as possible but I'm not one of those people so my opinion might be suspect. aI think there are some mods that are acceptable to even the "keep it original" crowd and I think adjustable lower links are one of them. I'm not saying, "Don't be a dope, just get adjustable links." I am just saying that they are worth considering even if you want to keep your car "original." On the other hand, a new bracket is surely less expensive than a set of adjustable links!

Maybe someone who is more in tune with the keep it original crowd can correct me if I'm mistaken.

I know Lotus Supplies offers one (https://www.lotus-supplies.com/parts/suspension/rear-corners/mounting-bracket-lower-link-to-transaxle-tc/). I would try them.

Try Dave Bean. I’ve had good service and quick and fairly economical shipping from Richard and I assume Lotus Supplies would do as well.

You should be able to find almost any party you need but because there are only few outlets, you may have to throw a wider net. Try the guys closer to you but Richard has set up quite a cottage industry in Europa parts. For example, r. d. enterprises promoted a kit for engine cover gas struts. I bought the same kit directly from Richard for much less and the shipping was very quick.

That’s not to denigrate r.d. They are a great source of parts but they aren’t the only source.

Here’s a list of sites to broaden your outlook (http://www.lotuseuropa.org/LotusForum/index.php?topic=1389.0j.

Is the TCS bracket the same?  I have the one for the 352 and I’m in Calgary.

Someone may have more knowledge (a low bar) but I do not believe model a model 74 part is  ot the same as a model 56.
Thanks for the offers.

I believe the bracket Gary is after is the one that bolts to the bottom of the S1/2 transmission that the lower links bolt to.  It sounds like he has is a home-made one that is not centred properly.  It's #3 on this parts page:

http://www.lotus-europa.com/manuals/s2parts/a/index.htm

On the TC/S, the lower links bolt to the bell housing on one side and the other side has a support bracket can't move the links out of position if made incorrectly.
