One of next many tasks is to sort out the ignition steering lock on the TCS. The current lock is a WASO lock that I think was used on Triumphs. Frustratingly I have the compete lock but no key :'( I have had no luck so far in finding a key or work out a way to re-profile the lock, or just buy a barrel & key and the only option seems to be to buy a new lock and £150+, so before I go and do that has anyone got any ideas?

Richard at Banks has found a way.
Cheaper than £150 I believe.
I have that path to follow soon.

Here ya go... http://www.triple-c.com/Lotus_Replacement_Car_Keys.cfm
Lotus key cut to code on your lock, $12.95 US.
They have lots of other cool stuff too... ;)

We just take the ignition switch/column lock unit off and bring it to our local locksmith. They have always been able to cut new keys. The unit is held on by "tamper-proof" bolts. We use a small cut-off saw to cut a slot in the smooth head and turn them out. New ones are available from Triumph part suppliers.

Hmm, thanks a locksmith is probably the best next bet.

I removed the electrical cap off the back of the ignition switch to find a paper label with a hand written three digit code that was the key code. I did this with the lock still in place. Even in extreme Lotus position I could not read the label. So I used a digital camera.
There is sure to be a local locksmith who can cut the key from the code, if not see Blasterdad's reply.
P.S., I photoshoped (changed) the code in this pic.

Good idea to check for a code. didn't think of that, but there is nothing obvious. The switch on mine was already parted from the lock itself when I got it, but will see if there are any clues

Progress., i have the key code for the lock. Next challenge what do I do with the code!! May have success, keeping my fingers crossed!
Found a company Morlands. Morlands.demon.co.uk. that can produce the key £12.95 plus postage. A bargain if it works. I'll update with the results.

Result it's fits! wheyey! :trophy:
Best £20 spent so far! A bit of jiggling as the lock not been used for 30 years, worked a treat. The key by the look is OEM or similar as it's been plated after being cut.

Excellent! That has to feel good!
