New to Lotus
« on: Monday,February 10, 2014, 07:45:06 AM »
Just a note to intro myself. I am from just north of Houston about 75 miles and have just acuired a 74 Europa in Black and gold with 18881 miles. Previous owner's age required a home with full time staff. (Rest Home)  It had sat for 6 months but a new battery and we drove it home. I say we as my freindis about 75 pounds less than I.  It is a beautiful car and I hope my wife will drive it occasionally as I sure can't at 6'2" and 250 Pounds. I might try again but the first time was sure funny to watch. I will try to find a way to post a photo soon.   Thanks

A photo would be great.  Yep........260 may be pushing the comfort envelope in one of these.   There are some other Europa guys in your fine state of Texas.

If you decide to sell due to lack of room.......don't forget to offer it here first to the Europa guys.

davisd,

You have about 40 pounds on me, but I'm 6'2" also and you can fit (at least I can). In fact, I've heard of others who are taller and can fit. Now I have to explain a bit. When I bought mine when I was in college, I fit fine though my head would lightly brush the headliner. When I rebuilt mine, I put a "bump" in the roof and I'm glad I did. I guess it all depends on who flexible you are.

They are neat cars and finally getting recognized as "collectible" and prices are moving up. It's flexible enough that you may want to think about it more. There are things you can do to make it easier to fit in it.

Good luck!

I'm 6'5" and I fit, yes my head brushes the top, luckily my height is mostly because of my long legs and short torso and the Europa has a lot of leg room which is great for me. I'm also 19 years old so being young helps too. Haha You'll find a way to get in the Europa and once you do you'll never want to leave because it is the best drivers car ever. I love driving mine, the only time I want to get out of it is when I have to put gas in it. My favorite Lotus to drive without a doubt.

Welcome to the forum  :beerchug:
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.
