Title: WTB: S1/S2 Black & Sliver Horn Button and OEM TCS/TC Lotus wheels
Post by: 460384 on Monday,September 14, 2015, 08:23:31 AM
I know it is difficult to find the S1/S2 Black/Silver Lotus horn button.  Does anyone has a spare one and willing to sell it to me to complete my S1 steering wheel?  I also like to buy a set (4 or 5) of OEM TCS/TC, 13x5.5 Lotus wheels for my 1972 TC.  Please contact me via pm, if you have them.

Somebody was making the black/silver plastic insert, which is the difficult part to obtain. He'd given up trying to buy one and had made a small mold to cast a couple of them.

I think it was on the Elan forum - Lotuselan.net, either that or the Yahoo group. I'll look later and if I find it I'll post up. Once you have the "Lotus" bit then you can use the rest from a Triumph horn button, or anyone else's come to that.

If this is the Lucas horn push button as used on Chapman wheels I have one available. They do seem to be fetching very strong money on eBay so with that in mind if you want to make an offer let me know.

I also have the small boss to go with it if anyone needs one. It has a a couple of scuffs on the side but will rub down or fill and repainted to look perfect.

A pic of black/silver horn push button is attached. This is what I am looking for.  A set of (4-5) Lotus alloy wheels from 72-73 TC/TCS Europa cars as well.

Slightly off topic - do you have that wheel? If so is there an inner ring between the body of the boss to close the diameter and act as ground for the horn push, as separated out in the pic?-

I do not have any ring in my horn area, only a small spring loaded rod that go in the hole.

Thanks, Y I didn't remember one either when I last had one of these wheels, albeit long time ago. Does your Lucas horn push work & fit ok? Is it a snug fit bare or did you add the little spring clips?

Sorry, I cannot tell you because I do not have an original black/silver horn button. I would like to find an used one. I tried a green/yellow one from MOMO with built-in spring clip.  It keeps the button in.

I'm not a purist to I replace the horn button with a Lotus badge.  I do have a set of Panasports and Lotus wheels gathering dust in the garage.  I painted the Lotus wheels gold back in 1980, Sabbath is all Black and Gold and she sits on 7" wheels now.

Yup, there is a metal ring that goes in first and then the horn button slides in.

Zipkart.

Send a PM to rascott in norcal, he had two spare TC wheels. He bought new VTO wheels for his S2 so he may not need the TC wheels now.
