Thank you, I didn't know 45’s meant a different effective size in terms of flow…makes sense.

Berni, it has crossed my mind to go back to absolute standard, as you say Ford knew what they were doing….useful that their ecu is adaptive…amazing actually….would be good to find an adaptive stand alone ecu….Emu Black has an ethanol sensor which might be useful

Anyway thanks everyone for their thoughts.

45mm throttle bodies flow a lot more than a 45mm DCOE carb.  There are no venturis, no aux venturis, no accel pump nozzles, etc.  Fit 40s or smaller and it will be easier to tame.

  Hi Berni
  I found it here
https://www.lotuseuropa.org/LotusForum/index.php?topic=2058.1305

However the picture of the eBay post is not there anymore.
You can read further from this page. I disassembled the heater and rebuilt it to fit under the wiper arms twice. I wired it directly to battery with A 10 gauge wire to a relay to heater  the on off is where the original cable was . It has a larger cfm fan that runs on the defogger switch that I may also run to the control relay for dual functionality.
This is what I searched for , mine was metal case but they seem to have others cheap enough to test .

Just listed. Says one prior owner from Ohio.  @Sveris, is this the Dayton car you were helping sell last year?

Hi

When you say your heater is electric, what unit did you use? Also how did you deal with the electrics? I put a Fiesta (MK7 I think it was) 800w electric matrix in the heater box of my +2 (along with a modern water matrix) in order to give instant heat while the car warms up. I have not had it actually working in the car yet (only on the bench) but it draws nearly 70A according to my calculations. Because of the extra load on the engine it should actually help the engine warm up faster.

All the best

Hi

This reply is probably not going to be of much use to you but here it is anyways. I have a Zetec 2.0 Blacktop in my Elan+2 and it is running a turbo type plenum with the standard Zetec throttle body on the end of it and standard Ford ECU. I have had the engine running, but only for a very short while as proof of concept. I am plumbing in the cooling and fuel system at the moment.

My plan with this was to just have a nice running car with minimal grief. Ford spent a lot of money developing the ECU so why not take advantage of it? If I was running ITB's (and I still might at some point or on a Twin Cam) then I would probably use a modified standard airbox with the MAF on the end. The ECU is adaptive so no tuning to do.

I will know fairly soon if it all works as expected. I certainly don't see why it shouldn't.

All the best

Berni

Not much completed but now running a brand new battery instead of old batteries I had laying around. Nothing special just a leadAcid battery with 3 year warranty.
Then my daughter showed up with a surprise, a GPS/dash cam setup with two cameras. 😁
Good thing I didn’t install the close-out panel yet to cover the wiring. I did find time to get it painted. Now to really come up with a location for a usb charger port for phones., and a hardwire or use a 12v cigarette lighter plug . I don’t want to drill holes in the facia or the close out panel.
I’ll get this slaved in and go from there.

Dear BDA and Swift DB4 thanks you very much for replying.

Good info. Great you have had experience of the 5 progression webbers….very interesting to hear your experience with them.

I have had 45 DCOE Webers on my Zetec for 20 years now. They were pretty close on jetting out of the box. I have an Electromotive ignition system, but that is not available anymore. The 5 hole Webers are pretty good on transitions, but injection could probably be better. I'm not a computer guy so went with Webers. I think there is a UK company Motorsport Electronics that sell just the ignition for Zetec at reasonable prices.
