RICHARD MANN'S CROSS FLOW RENAULT ENGINES

<< < (4/6) > >>

Lotus 47:
I have not seen a Renault engine with the oil passage restricted to the camshaft.

I have seen a restrictor in the top of the block of a twin cam to stop flooding the head with oil.

My home email address is richard.mann047@gmail .com

Contact me and I'll send you a quote for shipping a head gasket.

Serge:
I have some photographs of the oil passage-modifications somewhere, I'll try and dig them out.

Serge

Edit:

In this thread on the Aussie Frogs forum, Frans is preparing a 1600 Racing engine and does the little oil mod. Worth a read!

Edit2: added a photograph of a modification made by a French engine builder

Lotus 47:
Thanks Serge!

Interesting! I read Frans' post from Aussiefrogs.

I can see that would reduce oil flow to the camshaft. It sits in a pool of oil, so no problems with it receiving less oil.

I need to dig out some photos from my next instalment - I may as well start looking at the various pistons I've used over the years.

Valerio Leone:
I would like to re-open this topic asking if anyone has ever tried to fit an early crankshaft 81mm to the 843 block.
Here the advantage is gaining revs... may be..

its_jono:
Hi Richard,

Any chance of an update as you mentioned your next instalment would be pistons.

Thanks

Jono
