I tried modern LED headlights but I just didn't like the look. So I went back to the Marchal Amplilux headlights paired with a single HID spot behind the front grill. That gave me the period look with good high beams but the low beams left a lot to be desired. So out came the spot and in went Hella HID 90 mm modular headlights behind the front grill instead. They "ain't" cheap but they sure are bright!

I've been thinking about LED headlights. What about the look didn't you like? Did they have fan cooled electronics? Which ones did you use? Did you find them bright enough?

I had/have the Truck-lite 7" lights. Bright enough and use less power but butt-ugly on an older vehicle:

John, hard to tell but are the Hellas the same type used by Left Angle in his post?

Great shot, looks the business

His are halogens I believe. Clever install but I just don't care for the look myself. The HIDs are much, much brighter, lower wattage as well. Low beam is just a shuttered high beam so there is none of the typical HID lag when switching from one beam to the other.
