I was thinking about the rubber thingy between the head and the block, and the rubber breather tube from the side of the head into the air filter.

Strangely enough, my GT40 had a misfire at medium to high revs when the car was brand new. It was traced to silicone in the fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump.

Actually, fuel is one of there few things that will attack and soften silicone sealers.
