That looks really expensive! Has anyone heard any more about their SUV?

I put my order in! Seriously, looks like an interesting car but the new Corvette will offer almost the same performance for under $100,000. Yeah, I'll take the new Lotus.

0-186mph in under 9 secs for a mere $2m, and you cannot use it legally on the road in the USA.

the new Corvette will offer almost the same performance for under $100,000

C8 Corvette Stingray  : 495 HP, 3366 lbs
Lotus Evija                : 2000 HP, 3700 lbs

Looks like a different ballpark to me.  I'll spend my hypothetical $100k on an Evora instead.

I wonder how long the batteries work and how much new batteries cost... I guess if you can afford the car, you wouldn't ask those kinds of questions!

250 mile range according to the Lotus write up. (Not at 200+mph I am guessing).

18 minute re-charge time. Drive for 250 miles, cup of coffee, drive another 250 miles. Sounds good to me.

A car of this type has got to revive Lotus as a brand and increase values of all Lotus cars. The future seems bright under the new ownership.

That does sound very impressive but my point is that those batteries don't last forever and can be very expensive. But as I say, if you paid almost  or even more than $2M for the car, what's a hundred thousand or so for replacement batteries?

Something that just struck me is all the air intakes in the car. Teslas seem to have very little in spite of the fact that the batteries need cooling. In fact, there is one model I see occasionally that has no grille and no air intakes of any kind in the nose which makes it look a little funny. But there is a huge inlet in the nose and two more large ones in the rear quarters on the Lotus. I would assume that some of that is for battery cooling but that seems like a lot in comparison to the Tesla. (My apologies if your links addressed that but I haven't been able to watch the videos in them.)

Finally got a chance to watch a video that explains the air inlets. I should have at least suspected they had an aerodynamic function!

In the one video I watched, the Lotus guy said the interior was essentially as it was in the model which doesn't have a "central" screen which seems strange considering that seems to be the way things are going for GPS, radio, and dozens of apps that are in use today. I would say they dropped the ball there but som other video or article will probably explain why they did that and it will make a lot of sense!

Interesting car! I hope it catapults Lotus to a new level!
