Some pics of my ongoing conversion.
-
Looks great! Where did you get the water outlet on the back of the head? I'm not too keen on running the stock plastic one on my car.
Cheers,
Rod

That project looks great. I like the rework of the rear suspension. Do you have anymore pictures of the inboard mount and what you spindle looks like at the wheel?
-
I'll agree, your project looks great!
I'm considering attempting the Zetec conversion. Wondering about your FI intake - is a stock unit turned upside down? What transaxle are you using?
Thanks for any information
Andy

I think the rear cross beam (and the rest of the suspension) is Richard's twin link kit. It's a great addition!
-
The thermostat housing is home made, parts made by me and a friend welded it together.
I have also made The modified twinlink myself.
Intake manifold is stock from a escort/fiesta 1.8 .
Gearbox is ng3 from renault espace.
-
Looking good! I think you'll end up with a nice toy! :beerchug:
-
Yes, great work. Looks like it will be a fun drive.
Thanks for the info on the intake and transaxle.
Andy
-
That is very tidy, thanks for the extra pics of the twin link suspension. You are doing a very tidy job!
-
Thanks
The engine is a 1.8 silvertop with blacktop camcover, and comes from a 1998 mondeo, with stock efi.
-
what management are people running on zetec s
-
I am currently using The stock 1998 mondeo management.
-
Update pic.
-
looks like a monster! She should be really pretty when you're done! It should go just as well!
-
Car looks fantastic. Where did you get the axels? I'm doing a NG3 trans for my 68 S2.
-
That is unabashedly raw! Awesome!!
-
What size wheels/tires are you running on it?
-
Thanks :)
The axles are made from stock outer end and Renault espace inner end.
Gearbox is a ng3 also from a Renault espace
Wheels are campagnolo replicas from group4wheels, size
8x15 and 10x15, 195/45/15 and 245/40/15 avon tires
-
More pics.
-
That looks fantastic!
-
Made new seats and recovered The door cards.
-
Very nice work - all of it!
-
Very nice! Did you do all the upholstery work, use a kit, or have a shop sew them up?
-
Hi
Made everything my self. Bought The materials from martrim in uk.
-
Dressed up engine😉
-
Very pretty!!! She's coming along VERY nicely!!
-
Flares and wheels look awesome. I can't wait to see it painted. You did a real nice job on the seats.
-
I am just looking back through the pictures again... Your car is an inspiration for my conversion. I just love how its all coming together.
I was reviewing the engine placement pictures. Did you have to modify the width of your S2 frame to get the zetec to sit that far forward? It doesn't look like you have trimmed too much so far.
Cheers,
Ross
-
Thanks
I have not altered the frame, but the engine is a tight squeze up in the v, and the axles are angeled slightly forward from the gearbox.

Slowly making her ready for paint.
-
She's getting there! Those look like nice flares!
-
If that is the Omex EFI system with their ITBs you will be very happy!!!
-
Yes it is the Omex tb's. Looking forward to fire her up with it.
-
Finally got it primed, lots of pinholes but not to bad.
-
Nice progress! What color are you going to paint it? I like the flares and the wheel choice. Keep up the good work.
Ross
-
Thanks 😀
Not sure about collor yet but thinking of yellow or white. Always liked the Europa in yellow after i read the Spirou comic book when i was young.
Magnar
-
It's not a Lotus if it's not yellow! ;D (Just kidding, no death threats/hate mail please).
Your car will look great any color you decide on!!! (Except pink :o).
-
Hi
Have been busy with converting to ventilated brakes and had the engine out and inn again for painting frame/engine bay and suspension parts. Bought the calipers on ebay and rebuilt them.
Discs are 266mm from Peugeot/Citroen.
-
That's good prog! Those brakes ought to stop you pretty well!
Does that fiberglass piece on the firewall come out so you can access the front of your motor?
-
Yes, it is a hatch for easier access to front of engine. Still not figured out how to make the hatch fasteners, but will do so when i fit the carpet.
The brakes are 750g heavier than stock per Side, could use aluminium hubs to make it even lighter.
-
Hello, great progress!
Could you use aircraft style anchor nuts with "floating" nuts on a cover plate, with a cord to stop the plate falling away into the engine area?
That way you can access the bolts from the cockpit single-handed.
You would need to attach (rivet) the plates to the cover but once completed it would be neat and strong too.
regards,
Mark
-
The anchor nuts is a good idea, i will look more into this later, Thanks
-
Finally some paint on her😄
-
That looks GREAT!!! Keep up the good work!!!
-
Looks fantastic! What color yellow is that? Would you mind sharing the paint code and paint manufacturer.
-
Thanks.
The collor is RAL 1018 zink yellow. From HB Body.
They could not find L07 yellow, so i went with this and are very happy with it.
-
Looks great!
RAL 1018 Zinc Yellow is VERY close to Lotus L07! Not good enough for a partial respray, but for a complete paint job, it's really good!
RAL 1018 is a very nice colour, the shade changes quite a bit in different light. This will be the colour I will be using for the S1 as well!
Serge
-
Yes, this is the collor i also found to be very close to L07 and i am much pleased with it. Havent seen it out in daylight yet tough :o
-
Finnished😀
Approved with Zetec engine, bigger brakes and wheels by the Norwegian Vehicle licensing office.
-
Must be an Australian car ;-)
Congrats!
-
Thanks.
How can i turn them around?
They came up the right way on my ipad.
Fixed it😀
-
Dude congrats!!! You are a monster! My hat is off to you sir...
-
Congratulations. Great to see another quality Zetec conversion on the road!! :trophy: :trophy:
-
Your car is looking ogling fantastic! Good work and it has been great to see your progress along the way.
-
Thanks😄 . I am very pleased with it.
But are a bit worried about the hub and drive shafts, so i am going to replace them with vw parts soon.
-
Your car is looking great! :beerchug:
Please give us the details of your VW conversion.
-
Which VW hubs are those?
-
The hub axles are actually Porsche 924/944 and the hub flanges are ISP West Type 3 .
-
Congratulations!! Your Lotus looks fantastic. How is the drive?
-
Thanks
It drives like a big gocart, and is well behaving with the stock EFI.
No trouble with speed bumps either.
-
Fantastic! a very purposeful, bright yellow missile!
congratulations :D
Mark
-
Fabulous... great job, with some nice engineering details. Chapman would have approved of your gear linkage brackets too. :D
-
Thanks
Have made the inner driveshaft flanges, used the stock Europa splines part and a empi 100mm flange.
-
That looks awesome! I'm planning on doing the same thing in the next few weeks.
-
Some fresh engine pics. The car is for sale by the way, to fund another project.
-
She looks nice! Sorry you're selling her. Hopefully your next project will be even better! Have you listed it for sale somewhere?
-
Thanks, had much fun building her and should be a keeper, but need funds to finnish another project.
I have not listed her yet, have to take some good pictures first.
Any sugestions to where i can list her ? Not a big market here in Norway for Europas.

On this side of the pond, https://bringatrailer.com/ and https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/ are places a lot of people list classic/sports cars. Some sell them on ebay, too. I'm not sure how it's done in Europe.
