Winter Europa
« on: Saturday,April 18, 2020, 04:37:48 AM »
This photo showed up on the "Fantastic Plastic" Facebook page (John Bigler). You can tell it is an old photo by the lace-up ski boots. I just love seeing this S1 get used like an everyday normal car, though I suspect with salted roads, this car is just a memory at this point. Owner sold it a long time ago and doesn't remember the chassis number. Note the chains on the rear wheels.

... and chains on the rear wheels.

Does that increase or decrease oversteering?

There are a few original owners out there that drove their Europas in winter, including to the ski hills.  Chains though, that's a new one.

And some people thought it a bit strange to buy my groceries in my Europa!

Just don’t bring the ice cream home in the rear boot.  ;)
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

Looks like beautiful country there but if you're getting snow at the end of April, I'm happy to stay where I am.  :)

That was in the mountains, September two years ago.

Having said that the saying here goes, "Last snow in July, first snow in August".  And it has, albeit rarely, actually happened.
